Artistic Evolution in Fully-Embroidered Garments!

Beth Somerville’s journey into textiles began when she switched from studying botany to focusing on embroidery. While studying at Falmouth University, she explored techniques like laser cutting and pleating and worked with unique materials such as glass-fiber and recycled plastic to create one-of-a-kind fabrics. Her introduction to Wilcom digital embroidery software became a turning point in her work.

Using the software, Beth was able to create detailed textures and design stitched lace that fit pattern pieces perfectly, making zero-waste, sustainable fashion possible. This led to innovative projects like pleated fabrics and fully embroidered garments, including a collaboration with fashion designer Holly Crockford.
