Color Blending
In an earlier article we looked at Curved Fills, Florentine and Liquid Fills, the ideal companion Element to those is Color Blending.
Color Blending can only be applied to to Satin and Tatami fills if created with
Column A or
Column B tools
but only to Tatami Fill if the shape is created with Complex Fill.
The tool actually combines two features of the software
Accordion Spacing, which allows you to vary the width of the stitch spacing for the length of the object and the Trapunto setting which drives any travel runs to the edge of an object so they cannot be seen through the open spacing.

Color Blend Settings
The color blending tool ties both accordion spacing and the Trapunto settings in one operation.
Select the the object you wish to apply the blend to, if the object meets the tool and fill type requirements mentioned above, the the blend icon will show red in the Toolbox.
Select your base color, profile and spacing for the bottom layer.
Then select the settings for the top layer and OK.
Notice in the image to the left the the two objects created with the color blend tool are grouped together, if you wish to change the Accordion spacing values of the top layer ungroup the objects (CTRL U) and adjust the profile and spacing values as in the Accordion Spacing settings image 2 above.
To add an interesting stitch angle to the blend use the Curved Fills element and apply it the original object before applying the color blend. See a link to Curved Fills below
