A Drew Nelson Original

One of the most exciting things about embroidery is seeing how creative minds push tools in new directions. Our Reef PhotoStitch feature is designed to convert incredibly complex images to a single-color run stitch that concentrates on the darker areas of an image.

When placed in the hands of a passionate digitizer, it produces truly stunning results.

Meet Drew Nelson

You may remember Drew Nelson, one of our talented customers, who we featured in a blog post last July: Drew Nelson Using Reef PhotoStitch

Drew has been mastering the Reef PhotoStitch tool ever since, and the results speak for themselves.

Over the past few days, Drew has shared some incredible new creations on social media, each one highlighting his growing mastery of this unique stitch type.

By layering, he creates texture, depth, and movement, showing how a single-color feature can be used to transform embroidery into stunning multi-colour designs.

We’re excited to showcase one of Drew’s original one-off exclusive designs here:

Drew has generously offered this original design to the Wilcom community.

It’s a beautiful example of how Reef PhotoStitch isn’t just a stitch type — it’s a creative medium for storytelling through texture.
